CNC Machining

CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) Machining is a subtractive manufacturing process which cuts away the unwanted material from a block of raw material to form the structure of the desired part. Compared to SLA/SLS and other popular additive manufacturing techniques, CNC Machining has the advantages of tighter tolerance, bigger building size, smoother part surface, capacity of target material as well as typically lower production cost. Thus, as one of the conventional manufacturing techniques, CNC machining is still widely used today for rapid prototyping, precision parts and components manufacturing, big and bulky part fabrication, high and low volume production.

At Honkia Prototype, our CNC machining tolerance is ± 0.1/100 mm, for specific tolerance demand noted on the drawing, we could pay special attention to achieve it, for uncharted tolerance demand, we use tolerance standard DIN ISO 2768-f for the machined plastic and metal parts. Our CNC machining materials include: ABS, PC, ABS+PC, Acrylic, PP, PS, POM, PA, PA+GF, PTFE, Carbon fiber, Bakelite, Wood, Aluminum, Magnesium, Titanium, Iron, Brass, Copper, Stainless steel, etc.
CNC machining tolerance

One of the fast growing and wide applications of CNC machining today is rapid prototyping for its advantages of tight tolerance, large building size, target and cheap material, smooth part surface, accurate threading, and normally lower fabrication cost compared to additive manufacturing techniques, thus CNC machined prototypes or parts provide more reliable and economical feedback on mechanism and strength verification. For the part with big volume and simple geometry, CNC machining is a more competitive prototyping method than the common additive manufacturing technologies for not only its lower production cost and also short manufacturing time.

CNC Aluminum Prototyping

Here in China, though more and more Additive Manufacturing techniques are developed and widely applied for rapid prototyping and manufacturing in western countries, CNC Prototyping is still the leading prototype manufacturing process in China for its real, cheap, wide raw materials and inexpensive CNC machines with the increasingly mature and reliable CAD and CAM techniques developed in China. No matter big or small size, simple or complex geometry, visual or mechanical verification, low or high volume preproduction, CNC Prototyping is almost the first and reliable choice for product prototype manufacturing.
