CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) Machining is a subtractive manufacturing process which cuts away the unwanted material to form the structure of the intended part. Compared to additive manufacturing processes, CNC Machining has the advantages of target material, tighter tolerance, bigger working size, smoother built surface and much cheaper material cost, so CNC machining is widely used for rapid prototyping, precision component, big and bulky part, low and high volume production.

At Honkia, our CNC machining tolerance is usually ± 0.1/100 mm. For the specific tighter tolerance demand noted, we could pay special attention to achieve it. For the uncharted tolerance demand, we use tolerance standard DIN ISO 2768-f for the machined plastic and metal parts. The materials we could CNC including: ABS, PC, ABS+PC, Acrylic, PP, PS, POM, PA, PA+GF, TEFLON, Carbon Fiber, Bakelite, Wood, Aluminum, Magnesium, Titanium, Iron, Brass, Copper, Stainless steel, etc.

One of the fast growing and wide applications of CNC machining today is rapid prototype manufacturing for its advantages of target material, tight tolerance, large building size, accurate threading, and usually cheaper price compared to the additive manufacturing processes, thus CNC prototypes and parts provide more reliable and economical feedback on mechanism and strength verification. For the part of big volume and simple design, CNC prototyping takes not only the much lower price but also the less time than additive manufacturing processes.

Though more and more Additive Manufacturing processes are developed and used for rapid prototyping & manufacturing services around the world, CNC machining is still the leading rapid custom manufacturing process in China for its real and cheap materials, inexpensive CNC machines and the cheap labor cost here. No matter big or small size, simple or complex design, mechanical or visual verification, low or high volume production, CNC machining is the mostly competitive option.
