This was an urgent project from an engineering design company in New Delhi, India. Customer requested to have prototypes on his hands within 7 days including shipping before our upcoming CNY holidays. We worked intensively to finish this order in time without compromise of quality.
CNC precision milling. Each part was milled as fine as possible to get very smooth surface to save the subsequent hands sanding & polishing time.
CNC Prototyping was still the vital prototype making method for its real and cheap material, also tight tolerance that works important for fitting test.
CNC milled prototypes delivered more reliable strength and mechanical verifications than 3D printed ones, also better surface smoothness.
Surface finishing was another important point for prototype manufacturing, especially making appearance prototypes for visual presentation.
The milled prototypes had to be mirror polished well since any blemish on part surface would be more visible when chrome plating finished.
Hands sanding & polishing cost majority of time and price for this project, this was why prototypes usually cost very much more than products.
